As a spa resort, St-Gervais has attracted tourists since 1806 and today is a popular, modestly priced destination that is increasingly popular with families. The St-Gervais main ski area has 78 lifts on the slopes of Mont d'Arbois, and is linked by gondola to Le Bettex from where a second stage takes you up to St-Gervais Mont Arbois 1850 and access to the pistes of Megève. Skiing on the Mont Blanc side of St-Gervais is served by the Tramway, a funicular that climbs slowly to the Col de Voza at 1,653m, where it links to the skiing above Les Houches. St-Gervais has three nursery-slope lifts and two kindergarten. The town has a wide choice of hotels and restaurants as well as a new casino.
