Despite being one of the largest towns in the Alps it is not a purpose built ski resort, meaning that it has retained all the beauty and charm of a traditional mountain town, with its beautiful architecture, cobbled streets and pretty street cafes and bustling atmosphere. In addition to the delights of the town and ski conditions visitors to Chamonix can also take one of Europe’s highest cable car up to the Aigulle du Midi at 3,842m where you can view the summit of Mont Blanc – this also gives access to the world famous off piste ski descent of the Vallee Blanche.
