Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz are part of the Portes du Soleil and offer some of the best mountain biking in the world. It's linked lift system allow mountain bikers to cover lots of different terrain across all levels of riding whilst having the stunning backdrop of the French Alps.
Mountain biking in Morzine and the Portes du Soleil
With 24 ski lifts adapted to carry bikes, 4 bike parks and 19 purpose built downhill runs already in use, plus more planned for summer 2008, the Portes du Soleil is a paradise for lift assisted biking.
Miles and miles of cross country tracks are waiting to be explored, and mountain restaurants are open to keep you well fuelled. Trails range from easy family tracks to steep technical descents, to be attempted by experienced riders only! Trails are graded from Green (easy) through blue and red to black (very difficult).
With 650 km of sign posted trails, and plenty more waiting to be sought out the Portes du Soleil offers lots of choice for every rider and different trails to ride every day. Trails range from short easy family rides, to long technical cross country treks, to fast steep purpose built downhills.
Morzine is perfectly placed in the centre of the Portes du Soleil, with easy access to Les Gets on one side, and the trails of Chatel, Avoriaz and the Swiss resorts on the other. There are bike shops in town to hire bikes or fix any breakages and plenty of bars for post-ride beers.

Lift info summer 2008
- June 7th - Limited lifts open in Morzine and Les Gets (Chavannes lift is open just fri, sat, sun during June, Mont Chery from 28th June and Pleney is open every day from 7th June)
- June 28th - Full area lifts open in the whole Portes du Soleil area (Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Chatel, Morgins, Les Crosets)
- Aug 31st - Main area lifts close
- Sept 7th - Morzine and Les Gets limited lifts close
- The Passeportes event will be over the 28th and 29th June this year.

A one day pass is €16, 6 days is €64 and 6 days non-consecutive is €69.
