About Champery

Since 1857 (the inauguration date of its first hotel), Champéry has been a tourist destination of long-standing tradition. The gondola (cable car) which connects the main station to the skiable region above of the Portes du Soleil via the Planachaux works throughout winter and summer.

    * In winter: To service Alpine skiing, a trail of 10km, partially illuminated at night, is also open. For snowboarders, the snow park of Champery-Les Crosets is built every winter, and several events are organised there annually. Several walking-routes are available using snowshoes and snowkite initiations are also possible.

    * In summer: Several mechanical lifts stay open in summer to service hikers and mountain bikers, and many trails are still maintained. In the regions surrounding Champéry, a Via ferrata (of some 125 meters) overlooks the waterfalls of the "Tière".

Many kilometers of trails are marked out in the Dents du Midi massif. Climbing, canyoning and parachuting are all suggested as activities in the region.

The Ski Area: Portes du Soleil

The Portes Du Soleil is the largest linked ski area in the world, and is made up of 14 French and Swiss resorts in the Alps. It boasts some 650km of piste in the winter along with over 300km of marked mountain bike trails in the summer.
