A day filled with traditional activities and trades comes to Chatel with the village festival La Saint Laurent. La Saint Laurent is the patron saint of the parish and is the cause of celebration for all local residents and visitors to the area on this day.
People attending the event will enjoy a whole host of village fun and activities with a procession of floats, demonstrations from the local villagers showcasing traditional trades and a host of musical entertainment creating a real festival feel throughout the day.
La Grande Odyssee is the most popular and difficult sled-dog race in the world, that brings together 25 of the most renowned international mushers as they race through a variety of challenging mountain terrain.
The event was first launched in January 2005 and has grown in popularity and acclaim with every year. The race sees the competitors and their beautiful Alaskan and Siberian huskies, travel over 800km through the regions of Savoie and Haute Savoie and climbing a gruelling 25,000 metres when they reach the Portes du Soleil.
Celebrate the last night of the year in style at the Pompon Rouge Night in La Plagne. Guests at this event will enjoy an evening of spectacular with a special multiplatine-show by DJ maille and Phil Torres to get everyones feet moving!! For those wanting to strut their stuff they can do so on the white dancefloor at the outdoor clubbing complete with giant ice bar. As the last moments of the year pass guests will be entertained with a fantastic firework display to ensure the New Year celebrations go with a bang! Event organisers have also promised lots of surprises all night long to ensure a New Year to remember.
For all sport fans out there this is the event for you! The Sporting Stars event is a fantastic event that has been a fond participant on the La Plagne events calendar for several years. The event is supported by the Youth and Sports Ministry and brings together a range of French sporting stars including 20 French champions from 20 different sports and 20 hopefuls chosen and sponsored by the champions themselves.
Throughout the week long event visitors will watch the pairings of the professionals and hopefuls compete with each other with the best newcomer being chosen at the end of the week.
