Balme – Les Carroz Hill Climb

Climbing a mountain pass!  Many a cycling enthusiast, following in the path of Tour de France “pros”, has attempted to climb these legendary passes!  The latest to join the list of twenty or so “notable hill climbs” is Les Carroz’s Pierre Carrée pass!  From the beginning of July, the “Balme - Les Carroz - Col de Pierre Carrée” climb will be lined with GSM beacons and kilometre markers to indicate the average gradient, maximum percentage incline and distance.  Microchips will be available from the Tourist Office for cyclists to record and calculate their time for this hill climb.  A reference time will be set by Patrice Halgand at the beginning of the summer.  Why not be one of the first to test yourself against him?

Chalet du Bois available for Christmas

Location, location, location … With its 5 bedrooms the chalet sleeps 10 or more on request  and is well situated for access to the village and also a quiet nights sleep if needed.

We love the sauna, jacuzzi bath, heated boot room and of course the new huge TV as soon as we bring it over.  The communal spaces in the chalet are fantastic; a lounge with comfy seating for all, a cosy wood burner and a massive authentic alpine communal dining table.

Brand New ‘Hands Free’ Multiple Resort Lift Pass

Say goodbye to traditional ski passes! The Holiski pass lets you enjoy the slopes of the 8 prestigious ski areas of Compagnie des Alpes. No need to stand in line, or visit the Web every time you want to buy a ski pass.

The pass’ built-in chip works just like a contactless motorway card: it is detected automatically when you go through the ski lift turnstiles. The system records the days you skied and you automatically benefit from exclusive reductions.

Your Holiski pass symbolizes your annual subscription, valid from the opening day of the first ski area in the network until September 30 of the following year.

Les Carroz invest in better skiing

From 2007 to 2012 the resort of Les Carroz d’Araches in Haut-Savoie is putting more than €15m into its skiing area with the aim of improving skiing conditions and the safety of its clients. The investment programme involves the creation of a high quality reception centre for its skiers located at the departure point of the Kédeuze cable car, the replacement of three chair lifts by two high flow six place chair lifts, the increase in size and doubling of capacity of the Lac de L’Airon used for providing the water for artificial snow,  the use of which will be further developed, and finally the improvement of the beginner’s area next to the arrival station of the Les Carroz  cable car. This resort village is also linked to the Grand Massif skiing area which links up four other resorts: Flaine, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt Fer à Cheval, amounting to 265km of ski runs.
