It can feel like a military operation organising your annual family ski holiday as you plough through all the resorts researching the best family ski destinations.

Europe offers a range of fantastic family ski destinations with an abundance of family friendly resorts to keep the whole of the group entertained. Access to these European ski destinations is also extremely easy with all resorts being serviced by one-two airports with transfer times from the airport to resort ranging from a very reasonable 1-2.5hrs.

The curse of the entrepreneur - Season 09/10 done and dusted, surely it’s time for a well earned break?

Wow, where on earth has this season disappeared too!?! Not soon after the last magnum of rose was drunk at the end of season party followed by the drunken death ride down the home run, the snow has disappeared as quick as the seasonaires out of resort!
Yes, it’s safe to say that season 09/10 is done and dusted and what a season it has been.
As always the season during the majority of times resembled a rollercoaster ride with all the dramas of the highs and lows along the way. The fear of failure that follows you throughout the season, the personal dramas of running a business with a new fiancé and the sleepless nights and nervous twitch caused by the scary target looming overhead to ensure that dry bread and water are not the only things on our menu this summer.
We are totally done in, however can proudly say that all the blood, sweat and tears that we endured through the longest of days in 09/10 have paid off as we sit here happy in the knowledge that we have met all the goals we set out to achieve this season.
So you would think that we are happy and are now set for a long break in a non-mountain related destination with cocktail in hand??
NO, unfortunately we are, yes you guessed it, still in the mountains and now working towards the summer and indeed season 10/11.
“Gluttens for punishment” I hear you shout! Well, I’m, afraid we have fallen folly to the age old truth that the more you achieve the more you want to achieve.
Now we’ve seen what we can do when we put our minds to it, it’s opened a huge world of opportunities to what we can and want to do next season and the achievement of the scary target this season has simply resulted in the setting of an even scarier target for next season – one, that we are already working towards making a dent in.
It’s amazing how the way you envisage feeling when you reach your goals actually doesn’t quite live up to the reality of when you are living the moment.
I (naively) imagined that I would now be sitting here sipping cocktails and feeling the most relaxed I have done all season. However, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth.
We are both now even more charged and driven for next season and are well on the road to doing all we can to make sure we don’t mess up what we’ve built up this season and actually make it all count.
I’m sure we’re not alone in this feeling, I’m sure that everyone out there running their own business feels exactly the same, which makes me wonder will there ever be a time when we can sit back and switch our brains off for a little while and enjoy our achievements without the urge to be back out there achieving more?
Or is this simply the nature of the entrepreneurial beast and that without such a mind set we wouldn’t be doing what we are in the first place.
Do you run your own business? What are your thoughts – are you able to ever switch off? And do you make sure you take a step back and appreciate your achievements?
We would love to hear from any other entrepreneurs out there who also fall victim to the entrepreneur curse and from anyone out there who has managed to find a cure.
