The “Compagnie de Guides de Chamonix” was founded in 1821. Today its members number 150 professional guides and mountain leaders who accompany their clients in the Mont-Blanc Massif and indeed all over the world. Amongst the guides of the Compagnie are many great names and a large number of talented young guides.
The Guides Festival takes place every year on 14th and 15th August. It combines traditional folklore with modern expertise and offers a wonderful spectacle for all those attending the celebrations. It is also the perfect occasion for the guides to honour their regular clients and to show that the bond that develops between them and the chamoniard population is much stronger than a piece of rope. Friendship and conviviality are the keywords to these festivities….
Evening show on 14th August :
Sound and light spectacle which takes place at the magical, mythical spot of the Gaillands rocks. An exceptional evening for all ages, with climbing demonstrations, live music, fireworks and plenty of humour.
